Deaths due to cardiovascular diseases attribute to the highest number of deaths across the globe. Over the past twenty years, numerous research studies have shown that managing known cardiovascular risk factors and living a healthy lifestyle can avoid more than 80% of all cardiovascular events.

The American Heart Association (AHA) asserts that getting enough sleep is now thought to be crucial for maintaining the best possible heart and brain health. The ‘Life′s Essential 8’ cardiovascular health score, which also includes weight, blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, and nicotine exposure, was expanded to include sleep time.

Each of ‘Life′s Essential 8′s’ eight components, which is evaluated by the My Life Check tool, ranges from 0 to 100 points. The average of the results for each of the 8 health measures yields the overall cardiovascular health score, which ranges from 0 to 100 points.

Cardiovascular health is judged to be "poor" if the overall score is less than 50, "moderate" if the overall score is 50 to 79 and high if the score is 80 and higher. These observations have been published in the journal Circulation. (ETHealthWorld, July 03, 2022)
